Do you feel like embarking on an interesting trip? Try the Opatovice Canal in Pardubicko. It serves as a water source for fish ponds, and can be navigated by diverging from the Elbe River at the weir by Opatovice nad Labem until it opens into the Elbe past Přelouč u Semína. This entire section, which flows through forests and lowlands, is perfect for beginners, and is navigable year-round. Your ride may be somewhat slow, but the canal has integrated so well into the landscape that you will find yourself in a lovely forested wilderness. Most of the bridges are very low. If you are coming directly from the Elbe, you will come to a divergence after one kilometre, where the river separates into two branches. Take the right-hand branch; the one on the left flows back into the Elbe. One interesting feature on this route is the aqueduct you will encounter just before Semín, where you will see a bi-level crossing of two rivers.
