Through the valley of the Tichá Orlice: every boater’s dream

The boater’s river: Tichá Orlice

Route description:

The Tichá Orlice River source lies in the Hanušovické Highlands on the slopes of Jeřáb Mountain. The upper reaches of the river can be described as a swift mountain stream with rapids. At the Lichkov military fortress, it flows through Mladkov toward Jablonný, where it takes on a more gentle gradient and rushes through the foothill landscapes from Letohrad, through Ústí nad Orlicí and Brandýs, all the way to Choceň. A cycling and in-line trail runs parallel to this entire section, which is also definitely worth trying. In Choceň, the river leaves the deep valley, and flows through meadows and deciduous forests until it meets the Divoká Orlice River at Albrechtice. Although the Tichá Orlice has the moniker “tichá” (“quiet”), if there is enough water, it can challenge even the most experienced hot shot.
